based on my observation, engineering firms market their services through a very specific industrial channels, such as associations, trade shows, professional journals, professional articles, words of mouth, etc. The marketing and sales are done through more personal, direct contacts, rather than any distribution channels. In the US, engineering consulting firms like to hire the retired government officials, such as formal Secretaries of Department of Transporation in the local, state and federal levels, for marketing and sales purposes.
Marketing executives will set the marketing plans, sales forecast, budgets, implement and evaluate the preformances, etc. The rest of the staff very likely end up archieving the project pictures, updating technical professionals' resumes, preparing proposals, PowerPoint presentation, etc. to support technical professionals' sales activities.
of course, I don't know much about the company you mentioned here, but you need to find which piece of the puzzle you can fit in.
