Dear seattle Parent:
1. Your child would need both critical and intuitive learning at this age, just on a simple/basic level because she is young.
2. A three year old asking "why" is a good thing: She no longer assumes or projects her childlike "intuition" (self-focus) and wants to hear from you an explanation for things (other-focus) that she does not know about.
3. To foster intuitive thinking you would want to give her lots of experiential activities such as creative dance, music, color work, etc.
4. Also you do not have to be concern about straightly at what age your child should do what kinds of thing or thinking. Developmental theory is only relative and directional. Every child is unique in their making and dev speed, especially for children under lots of modern stimulation nowadays.
Good Luck to you.
