Position Description
(High-level Project and Role Summary; Please divide tasks into primary [80%] and secondary [20%])
The Network and Security Architecture (NSA) Regional lead will drive the development of data, security and WAN infrastructure standards, the release management of corresponding infrastructure software standards, as well as the development and implementation of solutions for the IO-CIM organization. This includes the development of network security infrastructure solutions and standards which satisfy the requirements of both [client name]’s internal network and technology used in support of [client name]’s outsourcing business globally. The NSA regional lead will direct the activities and provide career counseling and mentoring for a team of architects.
Responsibilities

Infrastructure Architects on the IO – CIM Technical Architecture & Standards team will serve in four primary capacities.
Team Leadership
- Direct the day to day activities of data, security and WAN architects on the NSA team within the Asia Pacific geographic region
- Coordinate closely with the three Global Functional Architecture leads (Data, Security and WAN) to deliver designs and projects consistent with the global strategy
- Provide mentoring for direct reports and career direction including development and execution of training plans for each team member
- Provide career feedback and direction to team members in compliance with [client name] policies
- Provides thought leadership in all technical areas of responsibility to the team members
- Build and maintain a high performing team within the geographic region
Lead Technical Architect
- Serve as the lead technical architect within the Asia Pacific region in all facets of supported technologies
- Work directly with the Global Functional Leads to develop solutions that meet design criteria for global deployment
- Lead or oversee design efforts for Asia Pacific based [client name] offices
- Develop and maintain technical skills in areas in all areas of network and security architecture
- Provide technical recommendations for [client name]’s network and security infrastructure
- Drive detailed technology designs, budgets & bill of materials for new facilities and/or facility expansions
- Drive detailed designs, and technology migration strategies/integration plans for solutions to be implemented
- Evaluate vendors/options & provide recommendations
- Undertake technology evaluations and present results and recommendations to Senior Management
- Serve as a point of contact for non-operational questions by other teams within IO - CIM
- Continue to increase skills through projects, self study, and training opportunities
Project Leadership
- Act as a project lead for large scale regional and global network architecture projects spanning multiple [client name] teams
- Provide direction for direct reports working on projects of both regional and global scope
- Provide thought leadership on technical aspects of projects for direct reports
- As required serve as a technical resource for projects and engagements requiring specified SME skill sets
- Assist in the development of required project work plans
- Assist in the gathering of project and/or engagement requirements
- Research appropriate technology and product offerings
- Provide technical evaluation of identified product offerings
- Provide input into infrastructure solution recommendation
- Assist with configuration and implementation of pilot deployments
- Assist other IO - CIM organizations with cost estimates for project and engagement solutions, as required
Operational Support
- Oversee tier 4 escalation support for infrastructure solutions within scope of TA&S
- Act as management escalation point for infrastructure problems
- Provide up dates to senior leadership on large scale infrastructure problems
- Engage vendors in problem resolution as appropriate
Must Have Skills/Qualifications
(Type of work experience, skills, residency requirement, etc.)
Technical Skills
- Industry certifications – CCIE highly desired
Strong technical skills in all or most of the following areas:
- Cisco Router & Switch experience with emphasis on CatOS/IOS
- Routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, IPX, EIGRP, PIM)
- WAN transport technologies (Frame Relay, ATM, Private/Leased Line, MPLS, ISDN, PPP, HDLC)
- Local network technologies (Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, SONET, WiFi)
- Cisco Wireless LAN technology and authentication methods (LEAP, PEAP & RADIUS)
- VPN technologies (IPSec, SSL, Nortel, Cisco)
- Quality of Service
- Server Load Balancing technologies
- WAN Compression / Acceleration technologies
- DNS / DHCP
- Firewalls (Checkpoint, Juniper and Cisco)
- Proxy/Reverse Proxy (Bluecoat, Cisco ACE, Microsoft ISA)
- WebSense web filtering
- IDS/IPS (ISS, Symantec, Snort)
- Security logging systems and security incident management
- Personal firewalls (ISS, ZoneAlarm, MS Windows firewall)
- Unix or Linux
- Perl scripting
Professional Skills
- Proven ability to direct the work efforts of others
- Proven ability to mentor, coach and develop a high performing team of network engineers
- Proven ability to manage own workload, priorities & deadlines and to work independently without supervision
- Proven ability to lead large, complex projects
- Proven ability to work with customers to define requirements, develop solutions and implement those solutions on time and to budget.
- Experience in creating detailed solution design documents & diagrams (Microsoft Word & Visio)
- Strong organizational skills
- Evidence of drive and the will to succeed.

Experience
(Preferred years of experience/skill proficiency)
Work Experience:
- 10+ years of experience working in a large enterprise or government institution where main responsibilities included supporting, maintaining & building large network infrastructures.
- 3+ years of team leadership
- 10+ years of hands on experience with large networks
- 3+ years of experience designing security technology solutions for a multi-client environment (i.e., where multiple clients / customers with different IT requirements are supported by the IT Team.)
Educational Requirements
Education:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
- Equivalent experience to the above
Travel Requirement/ Shift Hours
(Other special circumstances)
Travel / After Hours
- Ability to travel domestically/internationally, as required (<20%)
- Ability to support operational escalations after hours/weekends on rotation basis
